GUEST BOOK

Sandy, I just learned of your father's passing. I have such fond memories of your family from when we were in high school. Your father was a great yet humble man. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Mr.Chavers was a great next door neighbor to us for all the years we lived on Duffy St. Him and his wife were always kind and helpful. Peace to him and his family. Always, Don Newman

- Don Newman, Savannah, GA

David, I have enjoyed reading all the wonderful notes that people have written about Mr. Jim. I know how proud that you and your family are when you think of your Dad's many accomplishments. Bless you all during this time of transition. Prayers for all of you.

- Don and Susan Barre Griffin, Mount Airy, GA

I had the honor of meeting Jim at an Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Meeting in Savannah. As a Marine Vietnam Veteran, as I listened to his WWII experiences, I was captivated. I worked with members of the FOP to get him to the State Capitol in Atlanta where we honored him on February 19, 2014, the 69th anniversary date of the Iwo Jima invasion, with House and Senate resolutions. After I introduced him in the House and gave an overview of his life and military background, the Clerk of the Court read the resolution. He received four standing ovations. Then, all 180 members off the House waited in line to have their photo made with him. As I walked him over to the Senate to meet with Senator (now Congressman) Buddy Carter, he told me what an honor it had been. I told him, "you were the one who honored us!" He was one of the last members of the "Greatest Generation" and he touched my heart. May God bless and keep you Jim. Semper Fi!

- State Representative Bill Hitchens, Rincon, GA

Dear Family Members, It was such a blessing to know your Dad and Mom and your family all those years at Immanuel. They were a major part of our church and were loved by all that knew them. We will be praying for all of you. You all can be truly proud of their legacy. Much love and prayers.

- Gary and Tommie Lee Mobley, Melbourne, FL

Sandy, Davy & Jimmy: It is with a heavy heart that we must say goodbye to our loved, Jim. He was a wonderful person, who always took care of others to the best of his ability. He always added much to our family gatherings (He was my brother-in-law). He was blessed with a great sense of humor and loved traveling (which he visited 49 states) taking pictures, and spending time with his beloved wife, June. He was an honored Veteran of The Battle of Iwo Jima during WWII in which he took great pride. We want to Thank Him for his service to our Great America and for his devotion to his family. May he Rest in Peace with his Lord and adored wife. You had much to be proud of in your Father. God bless you all.

- Judy N. Rivers, Estill, SC

I remember 2 years ago, when we were refurbishing/painting American Legion (Chatham) Post 36, you were as busy and active as us Younger Veterans, and it was an inspiration to me, and I am hopeful that I am as Active and have such a Keen Mind as yours when I reach my Elder years. You will always be remembered for your Valor and Strength at Iwo Jima, and your entire Life after WWII. May you rest in Peace in our Lords Celestial Paradise. Semper Fi...
